膨胀石墨的性质以及应用

摘要:石墨是一种天然固体润滑剂,资源丰富,价格便宜,用途广泛。石墨具有层状结构,碱金属、卤素金属卤化物、强氧化性含氧酸都可嵌入层间,形成层间化合物。膨胀石墨是以天然鳞片石墨为原料,经化学或电化处理而得到的一种石墨层间化合物产品,被誉为世界“密封之王”。本文主要对石墨的优良特性及膨胀石墨的应用作了系统概述。

1、膨胀石墨性质

膨胀石墨材料又称柔性石墨材料,是一种利用物理或化学的方法使非碳质反应物插入石墨层间,与炭素的六角网络平面结合的同时又保持了石墨层状结构的晶体化合物。它不仅保持石墨耐高温、耐腐蚀、能承受中子流、x射线、γ射线的长期辐照,磨擦系数低,自润滑性好,导电导热、并呈各向异性等优异的理化性质,而且由于插入物质与石墨层的相互作用而呈现出原有石墨及插层物质不具备的新性能,克服了天然石墨脆性及抗冲击很差的缺点。插有层间化合物的石墨在遇到高温时,层间化合物将分解,产生一种沿石墨层间C轴方向的推力,这个推力远大于石墨粒子的层间结合力,在这个推力的作用下石墨层间被推开,从而使石墨粒子沿C轴方向高倍地膨胀,形成蠕虫状的膨胀石墨。石墨层与层之间可“嵌”入化学物质而具有可膨胀性。如可采用硫酸处理石墨,干燥后石墨在高温下膨胀,这是由于硫酸分子“嵌”入石墨层所致。膨胀石墨薄片的膨胀特性不同于其他膨胀剂,受热达到一定温度时,由于吸留在层间点阵中化合物分解,膨胀石墨便开始膨胀,称为起始膨胀温度,在1000℃时膨胀完全,达到最大体积。膨胀体积可以达到初始时的200倍以上。因膨胀石墨元件具有非常优异的压缩回弹性、自粘性、自润滑性、低密度等特性,广泛应用于石油、化工、机械、冶金、电力、轻纺、仪表、电子、核工业、宇航、军工、医药、交通等诸多领域中。

2、 膨胀石墨的应用

2.1 密封材料

2.5.6 阻燃涂料

近年来,膨胀石墨正尝试应用在阻燃涂料中,它可赋予涂料优异的受热膨胀性。美国近来提出一种由纤维增强材料、可膨胀石墨、固体吸热材料、聚合物粘结剂等组成的阻燃涂料,可用于纤维板、木板的阴沟涂布。该涂料克服了以往涂料易产生烟气的不足。在火灾中可迅速膨胀形成轻质碳层,而放出的毒气(如:SO2、NO等)较少。可有效的对基材进行防火保护。但石墨表面的黑色限制了它的推广使用。通过表面改性以改变其颜色,增加涂料的色彩品种,使其颜色能为大众接受,是该研究的焦点问题。
